01Approach

A ski lesson starts
with a person.

Every day is different.
So is every skier.

Before we click into our skis, we take the time to get to know each other: your level, what you want, what holds you back. Then we agree on a programme and a route built around your goals, or simply around discovering everything the resort has to offer. My goal is yours.

02Mathieu

Born in La Clusaz.
State-certified since 2011.

I was born in La Clusaz and came up through the Club des sports de La Clusaz. I have been a French state-certified ski instructor since 2011.

I then lived in Canada for twelve years, coming back to teach in La Clusaz during the busiest weeks of the season, at Christmas and in February. I also worked for Whistler Blackcomb, in British Columbia, to sharpen my off-piste skiing in every kind of snow and terrain.

Today I am back home. What I bring: teaching skills, patience and a sense of welcome, the way we do it in La Clusaz. I teach just as easily in English as in French.

Sociable, smiling and above all reliable, I care as much about the human experience as about progress on skis.

03Experiences

From first turns to steeper slopes, for children and adults alike. Every day out is built with you.

  1. 01

    Alpine skiing

Children · Adults · All levels

First slides, getting back on skis after a few years or polishing your technique: we start from your level, set a concrete goal and move forward at your pace.

  2. 02

    Freeride

    Another way into the mountains

Reading a map, preparing your gear, understanding the avalanche bulletin, then reading the terrain and choosing your line: learning to ski off-piste according to the slope and the snow of the day. Always when conditions allow.

  3. 03

    Ski touring

    Taking time to climb

Learning uphill technique and kick turns, managing effort, then enjoying the descent. Another way to experience the Aravis, quietly, away from the lifts.

  4. 04

    Groups

    Families · Teenagers · Friends

We put the group together, according to ages and levels, so that everyone enjoys their day. And we plan a programme that fits your holiday: restaurant booking, après-ski…

Availability, duration and prices are set by ESF La Clusaz and always confirmed together before heading out.

04The Aravis

A drag lift on the slopes, snowy peaks and a sea of clouds

I was born here and have grown up with these mountains since I was very young. Skiing with me means discovering the spots I love, the terrain that suits your progress, and the pace of a mountain village for the length of your holiday.
